15 222 Chapter Overview of Sign Types Permitted by Location SIGNS Franklin Zoning Ordinance Effective December 30, 2019 15.2 Overview of Sign Types Permitted by Location The following sign types are permitted in the following districts. Each sign shall comply with all standards and tables in the corresponding sign type. Sign Type Description Illustration Permitted Zoning Districts Awning Sign: A sign that is part of or attached to the front face of an awning attached to a building OR PD CI NC CC DD 1ST 5TH RC6 RC12 GO LI HI Band Sign: A sign that is flat against the facade and placed directly above a ground floor main entrance of a storefront and runs horizontally OR PD CI NC CC DD 1ST 5TH RC6 RC12 GO LI HI Canopy Sign: A sign that is attached to the front face of a canopy attached to a building PD CI NC CC DD 1ST 5TH RC6 RC12 GO LI HI Convenience Sign: A small, ground- mounted sign for pedestrian and vehicular circulation within a site PD CI NC CC DD 1ST 5TH RC6 RC12 GO LI HI Development Entrance Sign: A ground- mounted sign located at the entrance to a development, typically associated with subdivisions All districts, except OR Directory Sign: A small sign that is flat against the building facade and mounted or applied directly to the building OR PD CI NC CC DD 1ST 5TH RC6 RC12 GO LI HI Flag: Bunting or fabric that is hoisted on a permanent flagpole or otherwise displayed from a building All districts
