DRAFT FRANKLIN HISTORIC DISTRICT DESIGN GUIDELINES 11 chapter 2 Applicability of the Guidelines The Guidelines are applicable to properties within the HPO, which includes the City of Franklin's local historic districts and landmarks, many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A map of the HPO, as well as the individual historic districts, are available on the City of Franklin Historic Preservation Program website . Projects Covered by the Guidelines Projects covered by the Guidelines include the following exterior alterations to buildings and site features: • New construction or additions to buildings or structures; • Alteration/repair of existing buildings or structures for which a building permit is required; • Window replacement; • Siding or masonry alterations, excluding in-kind repair or exceeding the in-kind replacement threshold; • Roofing alterations, excluding in-kind repair or exceeding the in-kind replacement threshold; • Painting of unpainted masonry; • Signs; • Awnings; • Site elements such as fences, walls, walkways, driveways, etc.; • Modern features on the building or installed on the property; • Partial or wholesale demolition of buildings, structures, or site features; and • Relocation of buildings or structures.
