Inappropriate signs include band signs, canopy signs, monument signs, and vertical blade signs. Number of Signs Residential buildings should use no more than three signs per building. Each sign should be a different sign type, unless it can be demonstrated that more than one of the same sign type more appropriately places signage within historic architectural features. Directory signs are a sign type often used for residential buildings with multiple tenants. Where there is anentrancebehind thebuilding that faces aparkingarea, a fourth sign may be considered.
