Franklin Historic District Design Guidelines

DRAFT FRANKLIN HISTORIC DISTRICT DESIGN GUIDELINES 137 chapter 8 How to Use When considering signage, the appropriate guidance for which types of signs to select will be found in one of the previous Sections, based on the building form that most closely addresses the original building prior to any additions. This guidance includes the number, types, and locations of signs that are appropriate for commercial, residential, or civic buildings. Once the applicable guidance has been determined for signs based on the building form, this Section may be used to identify the guidelines that are specific to each sign type, including quantity, placement, size, height, materials, color, and illumination. The specific signs are listed below: Specific Sign Guidelines Awning Sign Band Sign Canopy Sign Convenience Sign Directory Sign Post-and-Arm Sign Post-and-Panel Sign Sandwich Board Sign Small Hanging/Projecting Sign Vertical Blade Sign Wall Sign Window Sign 1 2 3 4 7 8 9 10 11 5 6 12 Standards for signs are regulated by the Franklin Zoning Ordinance, unless otherwise described in this Chapter.
