Never use sandblasting or other abrasive cleaning methods on masonry surfaces. • When repointing is needed, use mortar to match the original in composition and appearance. • Rake mortar joints to match the original profile. • Avoid stucco or Exterior Insulating Finishing Systems (EIFS) materials. Stucco may be an exception for rear elevations that are in poor condition or for walls that have been severely damaged by sandblasting.
