EFFECTIVE MAY 30, 2022 133 chapter 8 Other sign types that may be appropriate, based on context considerations, include convenience signs, post-and-arm signs, post-and-panel signs, and wall signs. Guidelines for each type of sign are found in the Specific Sign Guidelines Section. Inappropriate sign types for commercial buildings include monument signs and development entrance signs. Number of Signs A commercial building should have no more than three signs, unless it has more than one ground floor retail storefront/tenant space. In these cases, the main entrance to each ground floor retail storefront/tenant space may have up to three signs. Additional entrances into the ground floor retail storefront/ tenant space should not have additional signs. Historic signs or ghost signs do not count toward the maximum number of signs. In limited circumstances, other entrances that provide fully separated access stairwells to upper floor businesses/tenant spaces may have up to two signs, limited to directory signs, small hanging/projecting signs, or window signs. Where there is an entrance on a rear facade that faces a parking area, an additional sign may be considered, limited to a directory sign, small hanging/ projecting sign, or window sign. 8 7 6 5 4
