For these types of changes, compatibility with the character of the district is the focus. Alterations and additions should be designed to complement and blend with the historic residential buildings in the district. Non-historic buildings are considered non-contributing because they were not constructed during the period of significance for the district. Other buildingsmay not contribute to the district because they no longer retain enough original features or have been modified to an extent that they no longer retain their architectural integrity.
