FRANKLIN HISTORIC DISTRICT DESIGN GUIDELINES 54 Residential Buildings New Residential Buildings Building Height • Design for height compatibility with existing historic residential buildings on the same block face as the new residential building. • Achieve height compatibility by designing within ten percent of the average height of the historic buildings on the same block face. Height must also not exceed the Zoning Ordinance requirements. • Design height on new streets to be compatible with the historic residential building heights on the nearest block face within the established historic district. • Measure building height from grade (ground) and not from finished floor grade.
