EFFECTIVE MAY 30, 2022 61 chapter 2 Chimneys • Design chimneys to be compatible in size, height, and massing to existing chimneys on neighboring historic houses. • Use stone, brick, or brick veneer materials. • If chimney caps are desired, use clay, slate, stone, or low-profile metal caps (painted to match the brick) that do not overhang the rim of the chimney. Gutters & Downspouts • Use half-round gutters if the building architectural style is reflective of dates before 1940. • Use ogee gutters if the building architectural styles is reflective of dates 1940 or later.
