Franklin Historic District Design Guidelines

FRANKLIN HISTORIC DISTRICT DESIGN GUIDELINES 80 Commercial buildings Non-Historic Commercial Buildings This Section provides guidelines on alterations and additions to non-historic commercial buildings. For these types of changes, compatibility with the character of the district is the focus. Alterations and additions should be designed to complement and blend with the historic commercial buildings in the district. Non-historic buildings are considered non-contributing because they were not constructed during the period of significance for the district. Other buildingsmay not contribute to the district because they no longer retain enough original features or have been modified to an extent that they no longer retain their architectural integrity.
