The committee could meet as needed or on a regular schedule and may appoint a chairperson, with leadership rotating annually if desired. Communications would be handled by volunteer members. While meetings would not require public notice, they could remain open to the public. Both organizational and individual members would voluntarily contribute to implementing the Plan’s recommendations based on their interests and available resources. 3. Non-Profit Lead. A third option for establishing a Preservation Committee would be to organize it under the umbrella of an existing nonprofit. In this structure, the host organization would provide limited administrative support—such as coordinating communications with committee members—and a staff or board member could serve as chair. As with other models, both organizational and individual members would voluntarily contribute to implementing the Plan’s recommendations according to their interests and available resources. In addition to an organizing framework or committee, other tools may be useful to increase participation or leverage resources: • Ownership of Recommendations. Although the Implementation Matrix does not assign responsibilities to specific individuals or groups, most recommendations will ultimately need a champion.
